Raf Simons’ fall 1997 collection leaned heavily into his prep school background — he himself was the son of an army man, and attended Catholic school. Cable knitwear, striped ties, and patched blazers lined his first ever runway show, and on-stage these familiar garments were turned striking by the ultra-slim silhouettes they were cut with, and the punk attitudes of the models, who wore various spiked up or shoulder length haircuts.
This sweater is modeled after a classic high school crewneck. It bears the name and crest of an anonymous, one-in-a-million school. It features the signature cut of the early days of Simons’ label, with a cropped length, slim arm-holes, and tight body.
